Since its opening in 1998, Art + Home has been a custom framing studio that offers prints, limited edition materials for the home, and frames for any occasion. Jean Patrick, who purchased the business from the original owner in 2008, is now placing an additional focus on the store’s supplies: original, affordable, decorative art.
Amongst the new materials in the store now are silk throws by Jujinka. Jean says that “these luscious and beautiful handmade throws have color combos that are so subtle and well thought that they would enhance any room’s décor or style. Other new additions that will be showing up in the store are Zulu grass jewelry and water color paintings.
Alongside Jean is Mark White, who, according to Jean, is “the glue that holds this place together.” Mark is a custom framer with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a great eye for color. He always finds a way to guide the clients to the best choice.
What guided Jean to Art + Home was a mixture of fear of retirement and a love for the Short North. She says, “I was scared of not knowing what I was going to do. So, I started looking for a business to start or own. I decided to give Art + Home a try. And what better place to start than in the Short North? It is the epitome of wonderful little neighborhoods.”
Art + Home is best known as a frame shop that caters to its customers. Under new ownership, it is evolving to offer more art and original pieces, aligning itself with two of Jean’s beliefs: “If you like it, it’s art. And you can frame anything.”
