The Short North Foundation (SNF) exists to advance the creative spirit, diversity, and vitality of the Short North in order to benefit all who live, work, and play in its neighborhood. Created in 2000, the Short North Foundation works with the Friends of Goodale Park, the Short North Special Improvement District, the Short North Business Association, the Harrison West Society, the Italian Village Society, the Victorian Village Society, the Italian Village Commission, and the Victorian Village Commission to facilitate a collaborative dialogue amongst the organizations and reflect a collective vision of the entire Short North region. The SNF helps leverage the efforts of these organizations by providing time, money, and talent.
The SNF is a 501(c)(3), all-volunteer organization with representatives from all Short North neighborhood groups. The SNF is helping to build a legacy for the Short North that will extend beyond our lifetime though an endowment fund that serves as a perpetual community resource. The organization also selects special initiatives for the advancement of the neighborhood. Projects range from renovating Short North areas to planning neighborhood events. A few recent SNF projects include the Short North parking initiative, the Short North district roundtables, and the SID Pocket Parks Campaign. Once a year, the SNF recognizes an individual who has made a significant impact on the area with the Short North Community Leadership Award.
The SNF continually ensures the historic Short North’s position as The Arts District for the City of Columbus and the region.
The 2009 SNF president is Steve Hurtt, principal partner of Urban Order Architects.
