Have you been neglecting your sweet tooth lately? Join us in the Short North for a night of delicious desserts.
First stop (around 6pm): Surly Girl Saloon (1126 N. High St.). Ask for their famous cupcake flavor of the day. Each is a fascinating blend of exotic flavors such as chocolate cayenne with peanut butter-marshmallow frosting. Try one of Surly's Spur Twirler Cocktails like the Salty Wench--a sassy combination of citrus vodka and red grapefruit juices with a salted rim.
Move south on your quest for sweetness. Your next stop? The artfully crafted ice cream treats of Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream (714 N. High St.). Tantalize your taste buds with rare-flavored, gourmet ice creams and sorbets. Try a signature flavor: Salty Caramel ice cream or Riesling Poached Pear sorbet. If that’s not your taste, try a seasonal dessert. The chalkboard lists all of the yummy possibilities.
Your final destination is Marcella’s Ristorante, Pizzeria and Wine Bar (615 N. High St.). Here have a delicious plate of Profiteroles and the Afagato (expresso and ice cream) to compliment. These cream puffs are filled with pistachio, chocolate and honey vanilla gelato, covered in a warm chocolate ganache, and sprinkled with powdered sugar. If these don’t make your mouth water, the Ricotta Cheesecake will. It has a biscotti crust and is covered in a blueberry topping—an Italian twist on an American tradition. Try this with the Cafe Calabrese--Marcella's own chocolate martini.
Parking Tips:
Starting Off: Park your car just north of the Surly Girl Saloon in their private lot.
