Every day there’s a staff of dedicated individuals and volunteers working to promote and improve the Short North to benefit your business.
Here’s an example of “A day in the life of the SNBA” and what we do for your business. And this is only a partial list of the things a small investment from each business owner helps us to do:
Social media marketing:
We have a team of interns keeping our Facebook page (with 9,500 fans) updated and our Twitter feed running (with 4,500 followers) several times a week;
Pedestrian kiosks
In partnership with the Short North Special Improvement District (SID) 13 kiosks are up on High Street listing the location of SNBA members. These kiosks show the neighborhood is a walkable district and, in addition to the maps, they also have information about Short North history and art;

The Short North website
The website has 15,000 visitors each month, is constantly updated with information about all our members, with direct links to your specific business;
Convention & Visitors Bureau and Convention Center relations
We’re constantly promoting the area to visitors from around the country who come for events, conventions or weekend visits. We also conduct tours for interested groups and suggest walking tours on the website;
Government relations
We fought on the members behalf to keep the costs of parking meters low;
Safety, lighting, public issues
Keeping members updated regularly through email notifications;
Promoting Gallery Hops and other events
Every other week, throughout the entire year, ads run in Columbus Alive promoting the Short North as a neighborhood to come to – not just for Gallery Hops – but for every day events as well;
Member 2 Member discounts
Members get regular discounts from other members through our M2M email newsletter;
Fans of the Short North newsletter
Regular email communications go to our fans, informing them of specials, news, events;
Articles in national & regional publications that promote the Short North.
Articles have run in The New York Times, The New York Post, The Atlanta Journal, National Geographic, and in newspapers in Cincinnati, Cleveland, Richmond VA, Buffalo NY and St. Paul MN;

Visitors Guide
50,000 of these books will be published soon and distributed to member businesses, the Convention Center and Experience Columbus, just to name a few of the outlets;
Pocket maps
50,000 pocket maps of the district, listing all the SNBA members, are distributed to member businesses, the Convention Center, Experience Columbus, and many other locations;
Special events
We sponsor events that keep the Short North in the forefront as a center of creativity like Highball Halloween, an event that brings 15,000 people into the neighborhood for the night.
And there’s more we would love to share with you should you decide to join, or re-join, the SNBA.
This effort on our part also results in other benefits to our community, such as WOSU’s documentary on the Short North, showcasing how far its come over the decades thanks to the efforts of people like you, who had the foresight to be active in the community.
So step up to help the SNBA. We’re here to promote the neighborhood and your business as much as we can. And the higher the Membership level, the more benefits your business receives: including a high profile editorial specifically about your business. Join now and see how the SNBA benefits you.
Thank you,
