With over 8,900 parking spaces in the Short North Arts District, over 6,000 on-street parking spaces, and 2,250 garage parking spaces, parking has never been easier in the Short North Arts District.

There are several public parking garages and surface lots in the Short North Arts District that are spread out and conveniently located throughout the District, offering hourly, daily, or monthly payment options.

GARAGE VALIDATION PROGRAM

Save on garage parking with daily parking validation throughout the District. Visitors can park for free for the first hour in four parking garages throughout the District from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. daily.

Garage Validation

Visitors can park in one of four Short North Arts District garages and enjoy their first hour free with garage validations. for the first hour. Here’s how:

  1. Park in any of the four participating garages between 9:00am to 5:00pm, Sunday through Saturday
  2. Shop at any 135+ participating Short North Arts District Arts District business
  3. Get a garage validation sticker from the business with purchase
  4. Use your garage validation sticker when leaving the District to enjoy your  first hour of parking free.

Electric Vehicle Parking

Charge your electric vehicle with one of the many fast charging stations while you walk through the Short North Arts District. Below are some of the parking options for your electric vehicle.

  • The Goodale Garage has 10 Tesla Supercharging stations and 10 EV stations
  • The Hub Garage has two EV stations
  • The Joseph Garage has one Tesla Supercharger and one EV station
  • The Lincoln Garage has six EV charging stations on Level 5
  •  There are several EV charging stations located at East Poplar Avenue at Park Street
Valet Parking

There are several valet stations throughout the Short North Arts District. The fast and friendly valets at each and any of the stands will handle your parking needs regardless of your destination.

When utilizing one of the valet operators in the District, be sure it is one of the operators listed below and that the valet attendant is directly affiliated with the service.

Resident & Guest Permit Parking

RESDIDENT PERMITS

You can apply for your annual resident permit online at ParkColumbus.com. Eligible addresses can apply for one permit per licensed driver, up to two permits per address. For eligible addresses needing additional permits, an appeal can be filed. Permits are $25 each and allow you to park in your permit zone without paying. Please note that resident permits do not exempt you from paying in general pay to park areas (such as on High Street and directly adjacent to High St). Read posted signage.

ANNUAL GUEST PERMITS

Guest permits are $25 each and good for one year. They enable you to add one license plate to your online account at a time, exempting the vehicle from paying to park in your zone. Please note that guest permits do not exempt you from paying in general pay to park areas (such as on High Street and directly adjacent to High St). Read posted signage.

24-HOUR GUEST PASSES

Guest passes are free to request and enable you or your guest to pay $3 and park in an on-street subzone within your permit zone for 24 hours. Residents can request up to 300 guest passes per year.

ON-STREET PARKING & PARKING KIOSKS

The Short North Arts District has hundreds of on-street parking and parking kiosks spots throughout the city, perfect for any short or long term parking plans!

Download the ParkColumbus App to your smartphone or mobile device before your visit to view available parking near you as well as contactless parking payment for any kiosks and on-street parking spots.

Beginning on Wednesday, August 23, extended priced parking hours will be implemented along High St. and select side streets:

  • Pricing:
    • High Street & Immediate Side Streets:
      • 8 am – 4  pm: $1 per hour (no change)
      • 4 pm – 12am: $2 per hour
    • Goodale Street:
      • 8 am – 12 am: $1 per hour

On-Street Parking Hours

All street parking is free from 8:00am-12:00am on Sundays and City-recognized holidays. Check your ParkColumbus App to check out the available parking spaces nearest you ahead of your visit.

SHORT TERM PARKING

Green-colored 30-minute meters limit parking for 30 minutes or less when visiting to quickly and easily pick up orders.

Parking Kiosks

The new parking kiosks within the Short North Arts District accept a variety of payment methods — including coins and credit cards.  ( You are also able to pay via phone with the Park Columbus App. Unlike coin-operated meters, the amount of time you can purchase is much more flexible. )

HOW TO USE

  1. Follow the street signs to find the nearest parking kiosk, or click here to view on our Short North Parking Guide.
  2. Enter your license plate and mobile payment number
  3. Pay with coin or card

TIP: Be sure to note your parking zone. You can use it to add to your parking time from any kiosk throughout the District!

All kiosks parking is free after 12:00am every day and from 8 a.m. to 12 a.m. on Sundays.

Park Columbus App

Download the ParkColumbus App to your smartphone or mobile device through Google Play or the App Store before your visit and enjoy these features:

  • On the Park screen, pay for parking contactlessly at one of the 6,800 non-metered on-street spaces by entering the Zone Number where you are parked
  • On the Settings screen, save multiple credit/debit cards and multiple license plates to your account in the Payment Methods section
    • The app prompts you to confirm which license plate you wish to use during your parking session
  • On the Park or Reserve screens, click the filter icon (located to the right of the search bar at the top of the screen) to filter by location type (on-street or garage) and parking space type (accessible parking, electric vehicle charging, and/or valet parking)
  • On the Reserve screen, find and reserve garage parking spaces in the Castle Garage, Hub Garage, Joseph Garage, and Lincoln Garage before you drive (includes information about ADA accessible and electric vehicle spaces)
    • If you reserve your garage parking in advance, garage validation is not able to be utilized at this time.
Accessible Parking

There are a number of accessible on-street parking spaces available in The Short North Arts District. Most accessible spaces are indicated by a shorter blue metered sign.

Any vehicle displaying the accessible plate or placard may park in these space.

ADDITIONAL TRANSIT INFORMATION

Whether you’re visiting the Short North Arts District, have lived here for ages, or something in between, there are plenty of ways to get around the District. Use the drop-down menu below to learn more about transit options, ride sharing, biking and more.

Bus: The Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA)

With over 40 routes serving the Greater Columbus area, your travels to the Short North Arts District by bus can prove an economical and safe way to travel to and from the District:

  • Fares are a standard $2 for adults on all lines and are capped at $4.50 per day or $62 per month
  • Children under five years old can board at no cost, and children ages five to 12 can board for $1
  • Riders can transfer to any route for any fare paid within a two-hour window
  • The CBUS Downtown Circulator is no longer operating
  • The AirConnect circulator is operating at limited times.

Short North C-Pass

As an extension of the 2022 Pilot Program, if you work or live in and around the Short North Arts District, then you may qualify for FREE Monthly COTA access to COTA’s fixed-route services through our Short North C-Pass program.

Ride Sharing & Taxi Services

Rideshare services like Uber, Lyft, and Yellow Cab have made getting to the Short North Arts District easier than ever before. Each service has implemented their own standards for cleaning and safety procedures. When using these services, be vigilant, be aware, and follow their safety recommendations, including double checking the license plates of vehicles you enter. Download their apps and learn more about their cleaning and safety procedures.

Do you need to borrow a car for an hour a day? Zipcar can take care of that along with the insurance, gas, and maintenance, plus you’ll enjoy a dedicated parking spot.

Zipcar has enhanced their cleaning protocols. All drivers are to use zipcars for essential use only, washing hands before use and sanitizing surfaces before and after use.

Late Night RideShare Zones

The City of Columbus partners with the Short North Alliance, COTA, Lyft and Uber to provide designated late night drop-off and pick-up zones that support safe, convenient mobility for rideshare users visiting the Short North Arts District.

Uber and Lyft rideshare users making trips between midnight and 4 a.m. will be required to use designated pick-up and drop-off zones. Those who are using Lyft or Uber rideshare services when visiting the Short North will be directed by the service app to the nearest drop-off/pickup zone. The rideshare driver will be notified that a customer is waiting in that zone for a ride.

LATE NIGHT RIDESHARE ZONE LOCATIONS

Keep an eye out for Late-night Rideshare Signage in pickup/drop-off areas and COTA bus stops that are not currently in use during those hours.

Bikes & E-Scooters

Have you your own? Ride it. We’re bike-friendly and our roads show it with Sharrows and dedicated lanes. We have bike racks at virtually every block along High Street. these are sanitized daily by the Short North Ambassadors. There are also covered parking and bike repair stations at Goodale Street and Park Street and at the North Market on Spruce Street.

Want to rent a ride for the day? Use CoGo, a transportation service powered by Lyft, that has both dockless ebikes with pedal assist technology and docking stations peppered throughout Columbus, several of which are in the Short North Arts District. CoGo offers bikes for everything from daily use to annual memberships. High contact surfaces on bikes will be disinfected each time they arrive in our depot. High contact surfaces on vans used to transport vehicles will also be disinfected at the start of each shift. Find out more about CoGo at cogobikeshare.com.

E-SCOOTERS

The Short North Arts District is accessible by E-Scooters operated by Spin, Lyft, Bird, and Lime. Visit each of their websites to download apps to operate E-Scooters that are available in the public right-of-way.

To protect pedestrian safety, E-Scooters are restricted from operating within 10 feet of sidewalks facing North High Street and on North High Street from 5th Avenue to Goodale Street. E-Scooters are prohibited from being operated on sidewalks and must be ridden in roadways while observing all traffic laws.

Walking is the best way to appreciate all the locally owned small businesses, galleries, dining options, and entertainment venues that make the Short North Arts District so unique.
